אההה.... אבל אין עליה ש'. כאילו היא... כשרה? במילה אחת - כן!
כשניגשתי לעצב את קולקציית המזוזות של VELVART, המטרה שלי הייתה ברורה: לקחת פריט מסורתי, נקודה משמעותית בכל בית יהודי, ולתרגם אותו לשפה עיצובית, שמספרת סיפור נוסף וייחודי. רציתי ליצור פריט יודאיקה עכשווי שמתכתב עם קווים נקיים, חומרים טבעיים ותשומת לב לכל פרט ופרט.
אבל יחד עם ההתלהבות מהעיצוב הנקי, הגיעה אלינו לסטודיו שאלה אחת שחזרה על עצמה שוב ושוב, והיא כנראה השאלה החשובה ביותר: "אהה.. אבל היא בלי ש'.. זה לא כשר נכון?"
אני מבינה לחלוטין את החשש. אנשים רוצים לעצב את הבית בסגנון שלהם, אבל לא רוצים לקנות פריט שלא יענה על דרישות המסורת וההלכה. אז בואו נעשה סדר פעם אחת ולתמיד, כדי שתוכלו להתחדש במזוזה מעוצבת בלב שלם ובלי שום פחד.
המזוזה כשרה? המזוזות שלנו כשרות לחלוטין ואם התחברתם לבחירה והעיצוב זה אפילו מהודר :)
השאלה החשובה ביותר!! האות ש' שרואים פעמים רבות על בתי מזוזות היא מנהג, שאינו חובה. האות ש' היא קיצור של שד"י שהן ראשי תיבות למילים שומר דלתות ישראל. הכתיבה שלהן היא מנהג, אינה חובה הלכתית ואינה משפיעה על כשרות המזוזה. אגב, למי שדואג לקיומם של ראשי התיבות האלו - אל דאגה. המילים שד"י כתובות בדיוק במקומן הנכון, על חלקו החיצוני של קלף המזוזה עצמו, שמכניסים לבפנים.
אז מה בכל זאת הופך בית מזוזה לכשר?על פי ההלכה, הדבר המרכזי שהופך את בית מזוזה לכשר הוא הקיבוע לקיר (בעבר, קיבוע לקיר על ידי מסמר כך שלא יפול) כיום בהדבקה שלא תיפול מהמשקוף, על ידי דבק דו-צדדי מחוזק (שתוכלו למצוא בצידו האחורי של בית המזוזה).
ככה שיש לנו בית מזוזה מעוצב ומיוחד, וכשר לחלוטין!
איך בוחרים ואיך מתקינים?
כדי שהמזוזה תתאים בדיוק למשקוף שלכם, הקולקציה מגיעה בשני גדלים: - Classic (גודל חיצוני: 13.5X3 ס"מ): מתאימה לקלף עד גודל 12 ס"מ. גודל שיתאים לדלתות פנים ודלתות כניסה לבית. - Large (גודל חיצוני: 20X4 ס"מ): מתאימה לקלף עד גודל 15 ס"מ. מתאים לדלתות כניסה לבית ומבנים.
שלבי ההתקנה (בלי לקדוח ובלי לכלך):
ניקוי המשקוף: לפני הכל, חשוב לנקות את המשקוף היטב מאבק בעזרת מטלית לחה, ולאחר מכן לייבש אותו לחלוטין עם מטלית יבשה.
הכנת הדבק: הסירו בעדינות את השכבה העליונה של פסי הדבק החזקים שנמצאים בגב המזוזה.
הברכה והקביעה: מברכים על קביעת מזוזה, מצמידים למשקוף הדלת במקום המיועד, ומשאירים בלחיצה חזקה ורציפה למשך 20 שניות. זהו, המזוזה מקובעת לחלוטין.

In one word – Yes!
When I first set out to design VELVART’s mezuzah collection, my goal was clear: to take a traditional, meaningful piece found in every Jewish home, and translate it into a contemporary design that tells a new, unique story. I wanted to create a modern piece of Judaica that resonates with clean lines, natural materials, and meticulous attention to every single detail.
But along with the excitement surrounding this clean aesthetic, one specific question kept coming up at the studio, and it’s probably the most important one: "Uh... but it doesn't have the 'ש' on it... that means it's not kosher, right?"
I completely understand this concern. People want to design their homes in their own personal style, but they don't want to purchase an item that doesn't meet the standards of tradition and Jewish law (Halakha). So, let’s clear this up once and for all, so you can bring a beautifully designed mezuzah into your home with total peace of mind and zero worries.
Is the mezuzah kosher?
Our mezuzahs are 100% kosher.
Here is the most important piece of information: The letter ש (Shin) that you often see on mezuzah cases is a popular custom, not a requirement. The letter 'ש' stands for שד"י (Shaddai - an acronym for Shomer Daltot Yisrael - Guardian of the Doors of Israel). Writing it on the case is a beautiful tradition, but it is not a religious obligation, and it has absolutely no effect on whether the mezuzah is kosher or not.
By the way, if you are worried about the absence of these sacred letters - don't be. The words Shaddai are written exactly where they belong: on the outside of the actual parchment scroll itself, which is placed safely inside the case.
So, what actually makes a mezuzah case kosher?
According to Jewish law, the core requirement for a mezuzah case is that it is securely fixed to the doorpost. In the past, people would nail it to the wall so it wouldn't fall. Today, thanks to modern technology, this is done using a strong, heavy-duty double-sided mounting tape (which you will find right on the back of our mezuzah cases) ensuring it stays firmly in place.
The result? A uniquely designed, striking mezuzah case that is absolutely, 100% kosher!
How to Choose & How to Install
To make sure the mezuzah fits your doorpost perfectly, the collection comes in two sizes:
Classic (External size: 13.5x3 cm): Fits scrolls up to 12 cm.
Large (External size: 20x4 cm): Fits scrolls up to 15 cm.
Installation Steps (No drilling, no mess):
Clean the doorpost: First, wipe the doorpost thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any dust, then dry it completely with a clean towel.
Prepare the tape: Gently peel off the top layer of the heavy-duty adhesive strips on the back of the mezuzah.
The blessing and placement: Say the blessing for affixing a mezuzah, press the case firmly onto the designated spot on the doorpost, and hold it with continuous pressure for 20 seconds. That’s it - your mezuzah is perfectly secured.
