קנה מידה, חומר וטכנולוגיה: מזוזות ARCH והחיבור לאדריכלות מודרנית
העבודה על קולקציית ARCH דרשה מאיתנו לחשוב מחדש על קנה מידה. בסטודיו, כשאנחנו ניגשים לעיצוב, אנחנו אוהבים לקחת אלמנטים ולפרק אותם לתכונות. הפעם, לקחנו את צורת הקשת - אלמנט אדריכלי שמסמל שער ומעבר - ופירקנו אותה לתכונות של משקל, יציבות ונוכחות פיזית.
בפרויקטים של עיצוב פנים ואדריכלות עכשווית, דלתות הכניסה השתנו.
כשאנחנו מדברים על דלתות כניסה יוקרתיות לדירות, או דלתות ענקיות של וילות ובנייני משרדים מיוחדים... מזוזה סטנדרטית פשוט הולכת לאיבוד בחלל. לכן, הפיתוח של קולקציית ARCH התמקד ביצירת בתי מזוזה גדולים ומאסיביים, שמתחילים ממידות של 20 ס"מ ומטפסים כלפי מעלה.
המטרה הייתה לייצר אובייקט חומרי שיכול לעמוד בגאווה מול דלת מרשימה, ולא להיבלע בתוכה.
האהבה שלנו לשילוב בין פיתוח טכנולוגי לעבודת יד באה לידי ביטוי בצורה הכי מובהקת בסדרה הזו. מצד אחד, האסתטיקה: כל מזוזה נוצקת ידנית בסטודיו מתערובת של אבן חול. החומריות הזו מייצרת אובייקט שהוא כבד, קריר למגע, ובעל חספוס טבעי שמתחבר ישירות לאדמה.
אבל מצד שני, עיצוב מוצר חייב לתת פתרון פרקטי ומוחלט. דלתות כניסה חשופות לא פעם לפגעי מזג האוויר, ונדרשנו לתת מענה טכני להגנה על קלף המזוזה. לכן, בתוך יציקת האבן, הודות לטכניקה מיוחדת שפיתחנו, קלף המזוזה שמור בתוך צינור קשיח ואטום. הטיוב נסגר באמצעות מנגנון של הברגה ייעודית. המבנה הזה עוזר באיטום והגנה מקסימלית על הקלף, כך שהמזוזות מתאימות לעמידות גם בתנאי חוץ.
השילוב הזה - בין המעטפת הפראית והכבדה של האבן לבין המנגנון המסודר והאטום שבפנים, הוא תמצית העשייה שלנו. עיצוב ישראלי מקורי לא נמדד רק בנראות, אלא גם ביכולת לתת מענה חכם בתנאים המתאימים.
סדרת ARCH מביאה אל פתח הבית פריט שהוא גם פסל אדריכלי וגם מוצר טכנולוגי מוגמר, שנועד להישאר שם יציב לשנים ארוכות.

Scale, Material, and Technology: ARCH Mezuzahs and the Connection to Modern Architecture
Working on the ARCH collection required us to rethink the concept of scale. In our studio, when we approach design, we like to take elements and deconstruct them into their core traits. This time, we took the arch: an architectural element symbolizing a gateway and transition, and distilled it into characteristics of weight, stability, and physical presence.
In contemporary interior design and architectural projects, entrance doors have changed. When discussing luxury apartment doors or the massive entrances of villas and high-end office buildings, a standard mezuzah simply gets lost in the space. Therefore, the development of the ARCH collection focused on creating large, massive mezuzah cases, starting from 20 cm and scaling upwards.
Our goal was to create a material object that can stand proudly alongside an impressive door, rather than being swallowed by it.
Our passion for combining technological development with hand-craftsmanship is most evident in this collection. On one hand, there is the aesthetics: each mezuzah is hand-cast in our studio from a sandstone based mix. This materiality creates an object that is heavy, cool to the touch, and possesses a natural texture that connects directly to the earth.
On the other hand, product design must provide a practical and absolute solution.
Entrance doors are often exposed to the elements, and we were required to provide a technical solution to protect the mezuzah scroll (Klaf).
Therefore, inside the stone casting, thanks to a specialized technique we developed in-house, the scroll is housed within a rigid, sealed tube. This tube is closed using a dedicated threading mechanism. This structure ensures maximum sealing and protection for the scroll, making these mezuzahs perfectly suited for outdoor durability.
This combination - between the raw, heavy stone shell and the organized, sealed internal mechanis, is the essence of our work. Original Israeli design is not measured only by its look, but by its ability to provide a smart solution for the relevant conditions. The ARCH collection brings to the doorstep an item that is both an architectural sculpture and a finished technological product, designed to remain stable and timeless for years to come.
