אור, אבן ומפגש: סטודיו VELVART ביום העיצוב הישראלי 2025

יש משהו באירועים כמו יום העיצוב הישראלי שגורם להכל לעצור לרגע. זו השנה הרביעית שהיוזמה המופלאה של אוֹרי סלע (תחת המותג לוקאל דוט קום) מוציאה אותנו, המעצבים, מהבועה של הסטודיו אל הרחוב, אל המפגש האמיתי – בלי מסכים ובלי פילטרים. השנה, הייתה לי הזכות להתארח בגן החשמל בתל אביב, בסטודיו של החברים האהובים מסטודיו נחשון, מקום שבו העיצוב נושם בכל פינה.
ההכנות ליום כזה הן תמיד מסע אינטנסיבי של דיוק. לתכנן את התצוגה, לבחור את הפריטים שיעברו מהידיים שלי בסטודיו אל הידיים שלכם, ולוודא שהכל יעמוד בדיוק כפי שתכננו בתהליך היצירה. אבל הרגע הזה, בבוקר הפתיחה, כשהתאורה נדלקת על החומר והדלתות נפתחות, הוא תמיד רגע נחמד ומיוחד של התרגשות.
השנה, המפגש נפל על הסופ"ש שלפני חנוכה, וזה הרגיש רק טבעי לתת את הבמה לחנוכיות המעוצבות שלנו. לצדן, הצגנו מגוון פריטים מתוך קולקציית ECHO, שממשיכה לחקור את הקשר שבין הדהוד הטבע לבין הבית המודרני. המטרה בבניית התצוגה הייתה לייצר פינה שקטה שמרגישה כמו הזמנה פתוחה: להתקרב, לשאול, ובעיקר – לגעת.
אצלנו בסטודיו VELVART, חלק בלתי נפרד מהחוויה היא להרגיש את החומר - את הקרירות המפתיעה בנגיעה באבן, את הטקסטורה של החומר ואת המשקל היציב שמעניק תחושת ביטחון ונוכחות.
ביום העיצוב הזה, ראיתי אתכם מלטפים את הפמוטים המעוצבים, בוחנים במגע את המזוזות ומרגישים אותן בכך שאתם ממש מרימים כל יצירה בידיים, מנסים להבין את הסיפור שמאחוריה. הפידבק המיידי הזה, המגע שלכם והאינטראקציה הפיזית עם החומר, הם מה שנותנים לנו בסטודיו את האנרגיה להמשיך וליצור.
האירוח החם בסטודיו נחשון, הממוקם בלב הפועם של העיצוב בתל אביב, היה הזדמנות נהדרת לראות איך עיצוב ישראלי מקורי וייצור כחול-לבן מקבלים את הכבוד הראוי להם. זהו כבוד לפריטים שיש מאחוריהם בן אדם, מחשבה ויד עמלה. אגב, למי שרוצה להרגיש את החומר: גם בשגרה, תוכלו למצוא חלק מבתי המזוזה שלנו בסטודיו נחשון לאורך כל השנה (תמיד כדאי לבדוק איתנו מה במלאי אם אתם מחפשים דגם ספציפי).

Light, Stone, and Connection: VELVART Studio at Israel Design Day 2025
There is something about events like Israel Design Day that makes everything pause for a moment. This is the fourth year that Ori Sela’s wonderful initiative (under the "Local.com") has drawn us designers out of our studio bubbles and into the streets for a real encounter - no screens, no filters. This year, I had the privilege of being hosted in the heart of Tel Aviv’s Gan HaHashmal, at the workspace of my dear friends from Studio Nachshon, a place where design breathes in every corner.
Preparing for such a day is always an intense journey of precision - planning the display, choosing the pieces that will travel from my hands to yours, and ensuring everything stands exactly as we envisioned it in the studio. But that moment on opening morning, when the lights hit the materials and the doors open, is always a special and heart-warming moment of excitement.
This year, the event took place the weekend before Hanukkah, and it felt only natural to highlight our Menorah (Chanukia). Alongside them, we showcased a variety of pieces from the ECHO Collection, which continues to explore the resonance between nature and the modern home. My goal for the display was to create a quiet corner that felt like an open invitation: to approach, to ask, and above all - to touch.
At VELVART Studio, the "Please Do Not Touch" sign simply doesn't exist. An inseparable part of our brand experience is feeling the material: the surprising coolness of the stone, the unique texture, and the solid weight that provides a sense of stability and presence. During this Design Day, I watched you stroke the designed candlesticks, examine the Mezuzahs through touch, and physically experience them by lifting each creation in your hands, trying to understand the story behind it. This immediate feedback, your touch, and the physical interaction with the material are what give our studio the energy to keep creating.
The warm hospitality at Studio Nachshon, located in the beating heart of Tel Aviv design, was a wonderful opportunity to see original Israeli design and local production receive the respect they deserve.
