לחזור לשורשים: סטודיו ולורט בתערוכת העיצוב המרכזית ביפו

יש רגעים שבהם עיצוב ישראלי מצליח לגעת במשהו הרבה יותר עמוק מיופי אסתטי. תערוכת ׳שורשים׳, שהתקיימה בגלריה Yaara Open Studio שביפו, הייתה רגע כזה. כחלק מאירועי יום העיצוב הישראלי, התערוכה ריכזה תחת קורת גג אחת 27 אמנים ומעצבי מוצר שיצאו למסע חומרי בעקבות השאלה - מהם השורשים שלנו?

עבורי, כמעצבת בסטודיו VELVART, החיבור לשורשים הוא לא רק נושא לתערוכה אלא דרך חיים. החומריות של הסטודיו תמיד נשענת על אדמה, על חול, ועל הניסיון למסגר את הטבע הפראי לתוך חפצים יומיומיים של אקססוריז לבית. בתערוכה הזו, באוצרות המדויקת של אוֹרי סלע, בחרתי ליצור פיס חד-פעמי. אובייקט שהוא כולו מחווה לחיבור בין דורות ובין חומר לזיכרון.

המגש המוגבה מיועד להצגת אובייקטים ומאכלים טובים, במרכזו נרקמה טקסטורה בהשראת שורשים טבעיים. כמו צמח, המגש נוצר משני חלקים, הגזע המרכזי ואיזור עליון מלבלב. החומריות משלבת חול טבעי וגוונים אדמתיים. המלצת הגשה: להכין עוגה במתכון שמזכיר את הבית של סבתא, להניח במרכז השולחן ולאכול יחד עם אנשים אהובים.

בתוך המרחב היפואי המיוחד, האובייקט הזה היה הרבה מעבר למגש אירוח מעוצב. הוא נולד כעיצוב קונספטואלי ייחודי שעוצב במיוחד לרגל התערוכה - פסל שהוא גם אמנות שימושית. הוא הפך להזמנה לשיחה. אנשים שעברו בתערוכה לא יכלו שלא לשלוח יד, להרגיש את החספוס של החול, את המשקל היציב של האבן, ולדמיין את הבית הפרטי שלהם. זהו הכוח של עיצוב מוצר במיטבו - היכולת לקחת חומר דומם ולהפוך אותו לחלק מהאינטימיות המשפחתית שלנו.

התערוכה הייתה חלק מפסיפס מרהיב של סטודיואים פתוחים וחללי תצוגה ברחבי תל אביב-יפו, והזכירה לכולנו שהשורשים העיצוביים שלנו כאן הם עמוקים, חזקים ומלאי אופי.

Local Roots: VELVART Studio at the Israeli Design day Exhibition in Jaffa

There are moments when original Israeli design manages to touch something far deeper than aesthetic beauty. The "Roots" exhibition, held at the Yaara Open Studio gallery in Jaffa, was such a moment. As part of Israel Design Day, the exhibition gathered 27 artists and product designers for a material journey exploring the question: what are our roots?

For me, as a designer at VELVART Studio, the connection to roots is not just a theme but a way of life. The studio's materiality is always grounded in earth, sand, and the attempt to frame wild nature into everyday home accessories. In this exhibition, curated with precision by Ori Sela, I chose to create a one-off piece. An object that is a complete tribute to the connection between generations and between material and memory.

The raised tray is intended for displaying objects and foods, with a texture inspired by natural roots woven into its center. Like a plant, the tray is made of two parts: the central trunk and a blossoming upper area. The materiality combines natural sand and earthy tones. Serving recommendation: Bake a cake from a recipe that reminds you of Grandma’s house, place it in the center of the table, and eat it together with loved ones.

Within the unique Jaffa space, this object was much more than a designer serving tray. It was born as a unique conceptual design created specifically for the exhibition - a sculpture that is also functional art. It became an invitation to conversation. Visitors couldn't help but reach out, feel the roughness of the sand, the stable weight of the stone, and imagine it in their own homes. This is the power of product design at its best - the ability to take still material and turn it into a part of our family intimacy.

The exhibition was part of a spectacular mosaic of open studios and exhibition spaces across Tel Aviv-Jaffa, reminding us all that our design roots here are deep, strong, and full of character.
